The ACCE Project co-funded by the European program LIFE Clean Energy Transition was present at the European Week of Regions and Cities in Brüssels. In partnership with the European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency CINEA on 10th of October we held a session titled Financing renewables: the examples of CEF Energy and Community energy funding schemes.

Ms Vera Kissler, Policy Officer at the European Commission (DG ENER) set the stage, touching upon both the CB RES programme and the community energy financing schemes. She then delved into the realm of different renewable energy schemes as a way to promote RES deployment in Europe.

Cilou Bertin, the Manager Academie at Energie Samen introduced the ACCE Project (Access to Capital for Community Energy), and the concept of CEFS. Her presentation was underscored by the inspiring success story of the Dutch Community Energy Financing Scheme, offering a glimpse into its structural intricacies.

Sacha Caron, representing Stadtwerke Görlitz AG, presented their innovative initiative to connect cross-border district heating plants in Germany and Poland. He shared his experience on working with cross border projects, which inspired a question from the audience:

“Could cross-border CEFS become a reality”? We certainly hope so!
