A milestone in the ACCE project

In June 2025, the ACCE (Access to Capital for Community Energy) partners signed the Charter that establishes a common understanding of the definition, principles, and ethics guiding Community Energy Financing Schemes (CEFS). This significant milestone underscores the collective commitment of diverse organizations across Europe to promote transparent, inclusive, and community-driven energy projects.

A Framework for ethical and transparent financing

The Charter sets out core principles that emphasize inclusivity, community benefits, autonomy, transparency, accountability, and democratic control. It aims to serve as a guiding framework for the development and governance of CEFS, ensuring they support local energy initiatives while maintaining high ethical standards. By fostering community ownership, encouraging local benefits, and safeguarding the independence of financing mechanisms, the Charter contributes to shaping a more sustainable and equitable energy transition.

Open for signatures and future collaboration

The signed CEFS Charter is now open for signatures from organizations involved in or aiming to establish community energy financing schemes. This collective effort seeks to unify diverse approaches and foster collaboration among stakeholders, including policymakers, cooperatives, citizen groups, and financial institutions. With this shared commitment, the ACCE partners hope to accelerate the development of community energy projects that are socially, environmentally, and economically beneficial for local communities across Europe.
